Trans Grands is a monthly, virtual program to provide support, education and connection for grandparents of Trans, Non-Binary and gender diverse grandchildren. Trans Grands provides grandparents with a safer space to explore topics relating to gender expression and gender identity, identify areas of struggle and uncertainty, and provide education and learning related to topics that will support them on their learning journey.
Topics of discussion are determined by the participants and have included Gender 101, the Importance of Pronouns and How to be a Grandparent Ally. Upcoming topics will focus on Dispelling the Myths, Medical Transition and Trans Storytelling. The program is facilitated by parents of Trans Youth and social workers but much learning comes from grandparents supporting each other and building their own community. Resources are provided for additional learning.
Trans Grands is open to participants across Canada, virtually over zoom through registration and an intake.
